The report and appreciation for my little volunteer activity in Tunisia
Reiko Nakamura, Kyoto Japan
I am very happy to inform you herewith for the result of my activity in Tunisia. Total funds raised are about 4,500DT (about 3650$US). They are utilized as followings:
The necessary things were purchased and funds were contributed to the 3 facilities below. Some were contributed to the people who were acting as volunteers at various facilities in the private bases. Especially, facility (3) is an orphanage which has some handicapped children. When the physiotherapy studio was established there at the end of November 2005, they had financial difficulty to purchase necessary equipment, Therefore, the equipment such as toys for physical development, tape recorders and CD decks were purchased by those funds, then their activity had been started. I was very happy to receive the letter from them, which was brought on the day of my departure to Japan.
(1) ASSOCIATION POUR LA PROTECTION DES PSYCHOTIQUES ET AUTISTES INFANTILES
(2) ASSOCIATION POUR L’INTEGRATION SOCIALE DE L’ENFANT ET DE LA FAMILLE
(3) ASSOCIATION DES AMIS DE L’INTITUTE NATIONAL DE PROTECTION DE L’ENFANCE
(4) Contribution to Mrs. Uenishi, Mrs. Yunokuchi, Mrs. Asami and Mrs. Atallah
for their activities.
The Charity SUSHI Party was supported by the wonderful people who had good understanding on the aim of this activity. My sincere appreciation is extend to them. I could have carried on 15 parties during 1.5 years. The number of total participants was 422 (Japanese 181, Non-Japanese 241). The nationalities of them were reached to 24.
It has passed over half year since I had returned to Japan. I was told by Mrs. Yunokuchi that the small contribution to her was utilized to the children who had to leave the facility due to the financial difficulty with unable to pay about 8DT (6.5 $US) per year.
While my memory of Tunisia is becoming so far away in my mind, I was very happy to receive another letter from AISEF (2) to recall myself in those days. I am wishing to continue the activity in Tunisia again if the opportunity will be coming in future.
Without generous and warm support by everyone, it was not able to be as it had
been. I would like to emphasize to thank all my friends, especially who had
helped me in the kitchen at every event. I am so happy to recall the enjoyable
time we shared together in Tunisia. At last, my special appreciation is
expressed to the Tunisian Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Salah Hannachi who had
generously extended his great support and help to this activity, and his
encouragement was extremely appreciated.
